Rainbow Seminar spearheads business emergency resilience
The agenda included a scene setting introduction from Nick Revell, Sales & Marketing Director on the progress the division is making and how they are enhancing their world class service even further.
Mike Still was the guest speaker, who has 30 years of experience in the insurance and risk management industry. Mike is Managing Director, UK and Ireland at Marsh Corporate Business, and has been a longtime supporter and Scottish Council Member of The Princes Trust.
Helping Businesses to be more Emergency Resilience
Mike is also Chairman of the Business Emergency Resilience Group (BERG), a leadership group of Business in the Community (BITC), which is an initiative established by HRH The Prince of Wales to help businesses and communities across the UK become more resilient, supporting them to prepare, respond better and recover faster from crisis.
Through his exceptional work and contribution towards BITC and BERG, Mike was appointed to the prestigious role of HRH The Prince of Wales Ambassador for Responsible Business in Scotland in June 2015.
Mike’s presentation covered what BERG is all about, its mandate and background and how BERG is responding and addressing the issues facing us today.
Mike also spoke very passionately about emotions – the most sensitive of issues explained and how to approach our customers and deal with them as individuals and with empathy, not just as “another claim”.
Recent flood restoration learnings
The presentation went on to talk about how the flood restoration lessons learned from the Cumbria & Somerset Levels floods helped to improve performance during last winters storms, and how the industry is moving from a status of Responding to Resilience and how this provides customers with added value and a personal experience during very traumatic times.
