We rang the insurance company (NFU) just after 8am in the morning (the flood water had come in at 2.30 the same morning) and 3 men from “Rainbow” were on our doorstep by 9.30 that same morning! (Some villagers reported that they had no help for a couple of days from their companies). They were absolutely magnificent! They took every care of our possessions and property even though there was water and mud everywhere, and every time the Team Leader (Chris) found a piece of paper on the floor, he would check with one of us as to whether we needed to transfer the information or just throw it away. When it came to disposing of furniture that couldn’t be salvaged, such as our 3-piece suite that we’ve had for 30 years, they respected our feelings and left it in the house until they could collect it for taking away, rather than leaving it outside in the rain. Every time someone from the company came, they were polite, friendly and helpful – they always explained what they were doing or what the damp-meter readings indicated and took the trouble to include us in decisions regarding taking off plaster from the cobb walls. Having never been through a traumatic situation such as flood or fire, we didn’t know such firms existed – this company made such a difference to our ability to cope with the mess and disruption to our lives – thank you very much for “being there”! We are exceptionally pleased with the service we’ve had over the 9 months of restoration, and thank you all very much, with the best will in the world, we hope you won’t have to come again"! |
